Class five have had a busy week and managed to fit in lots. They have learnt about translating shapes and done some brilliant poetry work on the senses. Here is a snippet from Daniel's brilliant poem:
Such a sight I saw:
An awesome aeroplane disappearing into the clouds,
Making holes in the bright clouds,
It amazes me like a shooting star,
Such a sight I saw.

Class Five have finished Shackleton's Journey in English and thoroughly enjoyed re-enacting parts and writing powerful quotes to end the story.
They have learnt about shape in maths and been recounting their time at Goodwood.

Goodwood Day 3!
we have had a brilliant time at Dell Quay today. We learnt a lot about tides and sea defences and the wildlife on the coast.
out favourite part was going crabbing- we loved it!!
Then, when we were fifteen minutes from home, we broke down and Miss Howells had to call the police to escort us off the coach. It was a very exciting end to our trip!
Goodwood Day 2
Today has been another busy day and we have been excellent. We saw lovely animals at the farm and even patted a calf!! The cathedral was great and miss Howells was so proud of us all!
We are having an early night tonight!

First Week Back
Class 5 have enjoyed lots of P.E. this week and have done athletics, cricket and swimming. They have been working hard on learning to use a protractor and finding out about the water cycle!
Dance- Spring term!

Class 5 have been busy this week preparing for mass, practising for Stations of the Cross and learning all about Ernest Shackleton!

Floodland
Class 5 have really enjoyed their literacy learning on the book 'Floodland' by Marcus Sedgwick. Below are some pictures of them acting out a scene from the book!
Class 5 have been doing lots of writing and editing recently. They are doing incredibly well and writing some super diary entries and descriptive books. I am really proud of them all!

Lest We Forget
Lest we forget the gallant and brave,
Lest we forget the peace that they made.
They will not grow old but stay fresh in our minds,
we hope they are safe beyond the skies.
All the bullets and guns whistle by,
we do not realise until you say goodbye.
So we would like you to wear a poppy today,
and celebrate them, hip hip hooray.
Class 5 have had a great week learning all about Mexico.
They have completed oral presentations comparing physical and human characteristics of Mexico to other countries, created non-chronological reports, learnt about the 'Day of The Dead' and even done some Mexican weaving!

Class 5 have had another brilliant week of learning and really enjoyed making scaled models of the solar system with fruit and toilet paper this afternoon.

Year 5 have had a great week this week and worked really hard. Roald Dahl day was a highlight with some brilliant costumes and brilliant learning throughout the day.
The class have had a super start to the term and I am very proud of them- well done!

Our topic this term is Ancient Greeks.
We have started our topic by holding our own Olympic event and making comparisons between Ancient Greek Olympics and Modern Day Olympics.
