End of Term Trip to Washbrooks Farm and waterfight!

Flight week has been great fun. We have worked in our House groups learning about various flight themed activities. We have had two pilot visits, made parachutes and kites, done some art work, played some games and looked at throwing activities in PE. Best of all we have laerned how to work together!!

This term we are finding out about animals and where they live. We looked at a map of the world, we have made animal non fiction books and fact files. We are going to be finding out about sea creatures, pets and farm animals soon.

Healthy eating week. We have been sorting foods into healthy and unhealthy, we have tasted lots of different foods and we have made and eaten some delicious vegetable soup.

Super heroe day! We have captured baddies with traps we built outside, we have used our super powers to fly around the hall and we have made super biscuits. Most of all we have played together and had fun.

This week we have learnt about LENT and why we have pancake day. We have investigated materials and made some instruments and celebrated World Book Day.

We have been learning about Saint Valentine this week, we talked about love and how it feels and how we show it. We made love hearts with our hands and gave hugs to our friends. We also learned about things that dissolve and did some science investigations.

Love is very important! We made some clay necklaces too and used our numbers to help choose how many beads we needed.

Three Billy Goats Gruff is our story this week. We have made masks, acted out the story, practiced using new vocabulary to describe the Troll . We have built bridges outside and in and investigated ice and what causes it to melt.

Spring Term has arrived and so has our Once Upon a Time topic. We have been revisiting Goldilocks, the 3 Pigs and learning about characters and settings. We have been doing some role play too. In Maths we are learning our 2 D shapes and making clay dream catchers with patterns.

We had a very successful Nativity play this week followed by a pantomime performance by a real theatre company. Many thanks goes to the School Association for funding it. We have been making decorations, learning carols and drawing pictures or the Christmas story. The class have had a good first term and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and arrive back fresh for our Spring term in January. Dont forget to keep practicing your reading!!

Stars, Space and wishes. We have been looking at the book 'Laura's Star' this week and we have been talking about our feelings and our wishes. We have made spaceships and aliens and found out a little about the planets. We have learned nesw letters w,th,qu, x and numbers 11 and 12. We have been playing all sorts of games with our friends and sharing our news from home.

Understanding Christianity

We have been learning about rememberance this week, we made some salt dough poppies and some cardboard ones too. We also did the story of 'Whatever next' and made some rockets to take to space. We have learnt some new letters l, h, sh, r.

We have been learning about patterns this week, we made lots of patterns with shapes, with lines and squiggles, with biscuits, with songs and rhythms and we had a lovely Pause day where we learned about Our School Values. We worked with Year one and made a lovely display of hearts.

This week we have learned letters g, p, o ,c and some children are already putting them together and making short words. We have been learning how number 5 is made of different parts, such as 5 ones and we have learned all about the story of Gods Creation. We said a poem in our Harvest worship and we rode the bikes and made dens.

Kites, measuring and ordering numbers. We have been learning a Harvest Poem this week and we made some kites and measured our heights with string. We are learning to recognise numerals to ten and how each number is made up of blocks of 1. r

Here are some of our activities we have been so busy with.

We will be sending home some pre writing booklets with your child. Please get them to fill them in using as much pencil control as they can. We will also be starting to write and copy our names next week, using lower case letters. Please help them practice this. Thankssmiley

We have completed our first full day at St Marys school. We have had fun outside with our year 6 buddies and made some new friends in class.
