Pause Days at St. Mary's

Perseverance - Spring 2022

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9

On Monday 28th March, we held a Pause Day to focus on our value of Perseverance. We linked this to STEM and Years 4, 5 and 6 were lucky enough to have an engineer come into our school to talk about careers in engineering and the perseverance that engineers have to show. All classes took part in an engineering project and showed amazing perseverance throughout the day!

Hope - Autumn 2019

"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31

On Monday 25th November 2019, St Mary's held a pause day exploring our value, Hope. The day focused on encouraging children to think about their futures, where they would like to be in 10 years time and who they would like to be. Children came off of curriculum for the day and took part in a variety of activities which explored hope and having high aspirations.

As part of the day, the children took part in a careers fair, where they could ask our visitors from different careers lots of questions and consider a career that they might be interested in in the future. The children were given to opportunity to explore the careers of the: police, firefighters, musicians, vets, seamstress, aviation, physiotherapy and building surveyors. They have had a fantastic day and have shown great interest in the different careers.
